This section shows just how easy it is to convert the NEW Dapol 9F steam locomotive.

We have included just 2 photographs (1 of each tender converted) to show the DCC chip already fitted and in situ.

To convert your locomotive, after first ensuring that it is lubricated per the revised instructions on our 'maintenance' web page, and running well. Remove the tender body by applying pressure vertically at the back of the tender, and lifting the body clear of the chassis and drive shaft.

You will easily see the DC blanking plus in its DCC NEM651 socket. Slide this blanking plug  gently out of the socket. Replace with the DCC chip ensuring you have fitted it the correct way up (see pictures for details).

Please note the gap allowed for the pins with the BR1G tender.

This has been done to allow the fitting of the chip, and the pins still contact the NEM 651 socket and transmit the power/signal.

Replace the tender body and programme your chip.

You have now converted your DCC ready 9F

Remember, when Dapol says it is "DCC READY", it REALLY is!
