Voyager : DCC Conversion Print

For this conversion you will need the following:-

3 x 6 pin DCC chips. (For this exercise we used Lenz Silver chips)

Firstly you must remember to DCC chip each end car to convert the lights to DCC or you will blow the light unit (which is factory wired for DC) and invalidate the guarantee.

This instruction is for the motorised unit

Firstly remove the body from the chassis. This is a simple clip on body and will pull upwards and away from the chassis.

Once free of the body the DCC board is readily apparent above one of the drive shafts.

Visible on the DCC board is a 6 pin socket and a flat ‘plug’ that allows the model to operate with straight DC power.

Remove the ‘Plug’ from the DCC board and replace with a 6 pin chip of your choice.

Replace the body and programme according to your DCC manufacturers instructions.

This instruction is for both end trailers.

Remove the body carefully from the chassis. This is a simple clip on body and will pull upwards and away from the chassis.

WARNING: The body is attached by cables to the chassis and whilst converting to DCC, should not need unplugging.

There is a DCC circuit board installed in the chassis, and is fully visible once the body has been removed. Visible on the DCC board is a 6 pin socket and a flat ‘plug’ that allows the lighting system to operate with straight DC power.

Once removed take your DCC chip and reverse the process by sliding the chip into the socket.

You have now converted your Voyager end trailers to DCC. All that remains now is to programme the chips using your DCC equipment instructions.

Please note that the lights are wired to automatically display red/white at each end accordingly.

You do not need to reprogramme your chip in one end to cater for this. Dapol have taken care of this for you.

For those who wish to fit function-only chips to lighting units please refer to the following diagram.
