The cottage was my first Dapol kit that I finished building. I was surprised how good the molds are. I didn't have to rework much, only on one or two windows I had to add material that wasn't available with putty. The fit was good so that assembly was fun. I was also very happy with the painting. Considering how old the molds are, I'm surprised how good they still are.

The cottage at first glance seems a little dated, however, for the price it is still a little gem. The kit is very easy to put together, however, take your time, do not rush or you ill spoil a nice little model. Before assembling paint the parts. The thatched cottage roof needs particularly close attention with the right colour. Practice first on card until you have got the right colour. I use yellow, orchre yellow and a touch of brown. use slightly darker paint, almost dry on the threads of the roof. Use thicker clear plastic for windows and add curtains, under no circumstances use super glue, it can cause clouding of plastic due to the fumes. This model is still a firm favourite of mine, and makes me quite a bit selling on with gardens.i like to glue the door open with a figure standing in it. The roof etc.. are all in the right proportions and looks good for a village

This kit dates back to the 1960's and is a fairly simple kit to Assemble.
The moulds seem to be showing there age as there is sometimes a fair bit of flash to remove so attention to part clean up is needed.
I would recommend replacing the supplied glazing with plastic chocolate box from a Ferrero Rochette (spelling)
As it looks more like glass than the plastic supplied in the kit
To get a good result it is attention to and care of clean up assembly and painting that is required.
Do not be tempted by the simplicity of the kit to rush it.
I have built quite a few of this Kit in my life time and have always found it an easy kit to assemble.
And that it is how good the painted finish you can manage is that makes or breaks the kit.
