The chassis arrived and I put it straight on my track and ran it on DC power. What super movement! With the body in place and connected to the rest of the train it was superb. I especially love the magnetic connections which are so effective. But . . . .
I run all my trains in DCC mode. I had ordered the chassis to replace the original one. The 'blanking plate' on the original was taken out and I started to replace it with a decoder. The connections to the body are very delicate and snapped off with just the slightest lifting of the decoder as it was being inserted. I bought the new chassis. By then I was aware of the issue but despite being VERY careful the same happened. Fortunately a local repair business managed to solder the connections which then became much more secure. It runs beautifully. (I also have a second, new model so that I can run a 10 car version. I haven't tried to insert the decoder yet but now that I am aware of the delicate connections, my fingers are crossed, hoping that the same doesn't happen again) It's become an expensive model!
