N Gauge Class 33 Decorated Samples

Prototype

The British Rail Class 33 is a class of Bo-Bo diesel-electric locomotive built by BRCW for the Southern Region of BR between 1960 and 1962. 98 class 33s were originally built and bore the numbers D6500 - D6597. The class was affectionately known as ‘Cromptons’ after the brand of electrical equipment installed and shared many features with its lesser powered sisters, the Class 26 and 27. In all 26 examples of the Class 33 survive preservation.

Project Update

The first four production samples have been received, reviewed and approved by the development team. These models have set sail and are expected to be in shops in the first few weeks of March (doing our best to allow for international shipping). We have just received the outstanding Class 33 samples and will be sharing images of them with you at the soonest  opportunity, the outstanding balance of the class 33 models are expected in shops early April.

Project Update

Decorated samples are currently being reviewed by the design team and feedback will be sent to the factory in China. Two obvious things that initially stick out are the shades of blue on the DRS model and the presentation of the lining across the grilles, both need some refinement. Once any adjustments to the decoration are complete we will have a clearer  view of when we can expect these models in shops. For the meantime we anticipate we will see them during Q4 2025.
