N Gauge LMS Period III 57ft Non Lavatory Suburban Stock
Dec 09, 2025

Dapol has garnered enough expressions of interest to advance to the tooling phase of the N Gauge Gresley BG and Modified Buffet project. Building on this success, we are excited to unveil our second exclusive Dapol expressions of interest model range. The reasoning behind this initiative is straightforward: these are models we are eager to produce, yet we believe they may not achieve the sales volume needed for a general release. With that in mind, we are thrilled to introduce the brand-new N Gauge Period III 57ft non-lavatory suburban coaches.

Group CAD render of the Brake Third, Third, Composite and Driving Trailer Third.

From 1933, the LMS started to build carriages to Stanier’s “Period III” designs. As part of this next phase in carriage development, several series of non-corridor coaches were constructed for suburban services. Built in large numbers between 1933 and 1950, the final examples of these carriages were withdrawn from revenue earning service in 1967.
The proposed diagrams are:
- Non-corridor Third to Dia. 1906/1906A
- Non-corridor Composite to Dia. 1921/1921A
- Non-corridor Brake Third to Dia. 1907
- Non-corridor Driving Brake Third to Dia. 1856
It is our intention to initially produce four livery variations for these coaches. These will be LMS Period III Crimson Lake (1934-1947), BR Unlined Crimson (1949-1956), BR Unlined Maroon (1957-1959) and BR Lined Maroon (1959-1967).

Advanced CADs and artworks have been completed, expressions of interest are now being taken. We will keep you updated with fortnightly progress reports and plan to make a decision whether to proceed with the project by the end of February 2026.
Assuming the project progresses, we will offer you the opportunity to place a pre-order to secure your models. This will occur around the time we reveal photographs of the decorated samples. Typically, it takes an additional nine to twelve months for the models to arrive at our warehouse, ready for dispatch. Dapol will not charge you any fees before the models are prepared for direct shipment to you, and we will not do so without your authorisation..
