OO Gauge Class 21/29 Production Samples

Dapol has received the first three production samples of the eagerly awaited OO Gauge Class 21 and Class 29 models. these have been scrutinised by the design team and passed for shipment. we are delighted to share images of them with you below.

Prototype History

The North British Locomotive Company in Glasgow built for British Rail the Type 2 during 1958–1960. They were numbered D6100-D6157. Thirty-eight of the locomotives were withdrawn by August 1968; the rest were rebuilt with bigger engines to become Class 29, although those locos only lasted until 1971  The British Rail Class 29 were a class of 20 diesel-electric Bo-Bo locomotives produced by the re-engining of the Class 21 locomotives. The units were designed for both passenger and freight trains. All were retired by 1971. No examples of the class 21 or Class 29 survived into preservation.

Extra Details

Both Class 21 models are not modelled with a moulded representation of the tablet catcher on the cab side. and have a snow plough in the accessory pack for you to fit if you choose to model this option. The snow plough locates in the coupling NEM pocket and can be changed out with relative ease. Note when the snow plough is in use, that end of the locomotive cannot accept a coupling.
